People talk a lot about changing the world, making society work, or world peace, but for most people it’s just talk. I know of high-tech solutions to world problems. Please read about them on my other websites. On the other hand there is also new social technology which poses a great danger to society.
I claim that only practical way to make society work is to use high-tech software based on advanced mathematical methods. Now that there is technology for the very large scale collection of social data, we also need methods to protect society from malicious use of this data.
I have often written about making society work as a project, but it should really be a movement, not unlike the environmental movement. Indeed, there is a relationship between the two. One reason that it is hard to make progress in environmentalism is that society doesn’t work — we have not been able to make happen what needs to be done. That is also true of other causes, like preventing war or feeding the poor. We need to do these things, but just haven’t made much progress. If we do it the right way, we can.
Though I do think making society work should be a movement, I do have a project to provide some of the necessary software. It has a website, SocialSystemsProject.ca but there is not much content on that site itself. What has been written is distributed over about fifty other sites. This collection of sites is quite hard to maintain, but doing so seems worthwhile.
I want this Making Society Work site and the Social Systems Project to help you navigate the large collection of component sites. Whether they have distinct domain names or not, most of these have been created on subdomains of SocialTechnology.ca which is the home of the earliest material. The methods to be used in making society work are indeed social technology, a term I have been using for a very long time.
This website for Making Society Work is new, an attempt to bring it all together. It will take a while to collect suitable material for it from some of the related sites. Please check in again.
There is also a MakingSocietyWork.org site, for those interested in managing things.
